The Tragedy That Is Pot Prohibition

And remember, this is ABC (Anal Broadcasting Company) that is reporting this as the tragedy that it is!

ABC News: Are Pot Users Criminals? The Tragic Case of Rachel Hoffman
After being caught twice with a "baggie" of marijuana, 23-year old Rachel Hoffman was reportedly told by police in Tallahassee, Florida that she would go to prison for four years unless she became an undercover informant.

The young woman, a recent graduate of Florida State University, was murdered during a botched sting operation two months ago.

"The idea of waging a war on drugs is to protect people and here it seems like we're putting people in harm's way," said Lance Block, a lawyer hired by Rachel's parents.

The Florida Attorney General's office says it is reviewing the procedures and protocol of the Tallahassee police.

Rachel's case also has raised new questions about state and federal laws related to marijuana possession.

"I'm calling her a criminal," Tallahassee police chief Dennis Jones told 20/20, who maintains that both drug dealers and drug users are considered criminals to his department.

--------------------
You can now watch Friday's excellent 20/20 segment on Rachel Hoffman here. There is also an expanded essay on this tragic situation here.

But, hell, who cares. We've got a war to wage, people to kill, money to make! So what if there is a little collateral damage (or a lot) and a few pot heads get killed. We were gonna kill 'em anyway.

"Stop War on Iran!"

I just have to pass this along.
From Coast to Coast - and around the Globe
The People Say "Stop War on Iran!"
Take to the streets on August 2!

The threat of a U.S./Israeli attack against Iran is growing - but so is grassroots opposition. What we do in the next few days and weeks can make a difference.

Just a few weeks ago - on June 12- the Stop War on Iran Campaign issued an emergency call to action for August 2. Response has been overwhelming, and activists have organized actions in more than 87 cities, including major cities from coast to coast, including Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and Washington DC, as well as in smaller towns and cities like Westbrook, Maine; Melbourne and Ocala, Fla.; Charlotte, N.C.; Bozeman, Mont.; Salt Lake City; and Tucson, Ariz. Organizers as far away as Hawaii are mobilizing to protest as an attack against Iran is threatened daily.

We've also heard from activists in Australia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Bangladesh and a number of countries in the Middle East, who are mobilizing to support the Emergency Call. There will also be actions in cities across Canada.

This growing number of actions demonstrates the deep opposition to an attack on Iran - across the U.S., local organizers are mobilizing demonstrations big and small in the heat of August from Hilo, Hawaii to Kennebunk, Maine, not far from the Bush family compound.

We urge you to join us in the streets this Saturday. If there's not an action near you, there's still time to organize a rally, speakout, or picket. Make your voice heard - go to http://stopwaroniran.org/aug22008volorgcent.shtml to list your local activity.

OK. He's a "Right Wing" Psychopath

My previous posts on this subject may have been vague on this point, though I don't think so. My reference to "the average American" and "southerners" in particular seemed to offend some. I admit that this is purely conjecture on my part, but it was "the average American" and "southerners" in particular that elected this current regime into power (with a little help from the Supreme Court), if I am not mistaken.

And it is "the average American" and "southerners" in particular who have rolled over and licked their nuts as these sycophants have ravaged the housing market, the banking industry, employment, health care, Social Security, our food supply, OUR TOY SUPPLY, and the list goes on (and on and on and on), not to mention all the mass murder that has been committed in YOUR FUCKING NAME around the world in all of those pesky little third world countries that have no rights at all to begin with (apparently). And all so you can buy, buy, buy until the wheels fall off of your SUV... and the fucking economy, too.

Forgive me for comparing "the average American" and "southerners" in particular to this psychopath which walked into a church and opened fire, which I didn't think that I did. I just called them all MORONS. But for what it is worth, perhaps these apathetic people of which I speak are not that different from him.

I have been screaming at the top of my lungs for over a decade and all it has gotten me is divorced and a heart attack. Oh, and one of you right wing pricks tried to take my fucking home away from me. (But that doesn't count. I'm a left wing nut that doesn't deserve to have a home of his own!)

And as it turns out, this psychopath was merely doing the bidding of your right wing mouth pieces at Faux News, or Fox Noise, or whatever the fuck they are because they aren't fucking news! They are hate mongers! Tools of the War Machine!

So, forgive me for stepping out of your little fantasy world of "everybody's nice". Because they most certainly are not, my friend. Forgive me for not burying my head in the sand and in my ass as the world comes apart at the hinges! And it is all made possible by all of you "everybody's nice" pricks.

Did Right-Wing Shock Jocks Motivate Knoxville Killer? | PEEK | AlterNet
From the Knoxville News Sentinel:

Police found right-wing political books, brass knuckles, empty shotgun shell boxes and a handgun in the Powell home of a man who said he attacked a church in order to kill liberals "who are ruining the country," court records show.

Knoxville police Sunday evening searched the Levy Drive home of Jim David Adkisson after he allegedly entered the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church and killed two people and wounded six others during the presentation of a children's musical.

Adkisson targeted the church ... "because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of media outlets."

Adkisson [said] that "he could not get to the leaders of the liberal movement that he would then target those that had voted them in to office."

Inside the house, officers found "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder" by radio talk show host Michael Savage, "Let Freedom Ring" by talk show host Sean Hannity, and "The O'Reilly Factor," by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly.

The shotgun-wielding suspect in Sunday's mass shooting at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church was motivated by a hatred of "the liberal movement," and he planned to shoot until police shot him, Knoxville Police Chief Sterling P. Owen IV said this morning.

Adkisson, 58, of Powell wrote a four-page letter in which he stated his "hatred of the liberal movement," Owen said. "Liberals in general, as well as gays."

Adkisson said he also was frustrated about not being able to obtain a job, Owen said.

Owen said Adkisson specifically targeted the church for its beliefs, rather than a particular member of the congregation.

"It appears that church had received some publicity regarding its liberal stance," the chief said. The church has a "gays welcome" sign and regularly runs announcements in the News Sentinel about meetings of the Parents, Friends and Family of Lesbians and Gays meetings at the church.

Owen said Adkisson's stated hatred of the liberal movement was not necessarily connected to any hostility toward Christianity or religion per say, but rather the political advocacy of the church.

The church's Web site states that it has worked for "desegregation, racial harmony, fair wages, women's rights and gay rights" since the 1950s. Current ministries involve emergency aid for the needy, school tutoring and support for the homeless, as well as a cafe that provides a gathering place for gay and lesbian high-schoolers.

I'm getting to the point that I can't look at the wreck we have all ALLOWED to happen, as we kept telling ourselves that "everybody's nice" and that everything would work out. It WILL work out. Just not the fairy tale ending that you have envisioned.

Hold on to your seats folks. We are attacking Iran as you read this. Our economy is crumbling as you read this. Capitalism is in its last throes. Your world, and mine (thank you very fucking much) is about to change into something that we can't even imagine.

And I assure you that it ain't gonna be nice.

Cucaracha.

And I bid you farewell.

Press Advisory: Marijuana Decriminalization Bill in Congress

Monday, July 28, 2008

WHAT:
Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) and other Congressional cosponsors will convene a press conference to announce the introduction of legislation to remove federal penalties for personal marijuana use, and take questions from the media.

HR 5843, entitled An Act To Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults, would eliminate federal penalties for possession of up to 100 grams of marijuana, and for the not-for-profit transfer of up to one ounce of marijuana.

This proposal reflects the basic recommendations of the National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse (aka the Shafer Commission) in their groundbreaking report to Congress in 1972 entitled Marihuana: A Signal of Misunderstanding.

This is the first federal marijuana decriminalization bill to be introduced in Congress since 1978, and reflects the changing public attitudes that no longer support treating responsible marijuana smokers like criminals. According to a nationwide Time/CNN poll, three out of four Americans now favor a fine only, no jail, for adults who possess or use small amounts of marijuana.

Representatives from the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana LAWS (NORML), the Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) and the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP) will also participate in this press conference.

WHEN:
Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 10:00am.

Let Albert Speak!

Since I obviously have not expressed myself in a clear enough manner for some to understand what I am trying to say, I will let one of the greatest minds of the previous century speak.

"I gladly accept this award as an expression of friendly sentiments. It gives me great pleasure, indeed, to see the stubbornness of an incorrigible nonconformist warmly acclaimed. To be sure, we are concerned here with non-conformism in a remote field of endeavor, and no Senatorial committee has as yet felt impelled to tackle the important task of combating, also in this field, the dangers which threaten the inner security of the uncritical or else intimidated citizen."
Radio Broadcast, May 4, 1953

"We thus arrive at a conception of the relation of science to religion very different from the usual one. When one views the matter historically, one is inclined to look upon science and religion as irreconcilable antagonists, and for a very obvious reason. The man who is thoroughly convinced of the universal operation of the law of causation cannot for a moment entertain the idea of a being who interferes in the course of events--provided, of course, that he takes the hypothesis of causality really seriously. He has no use for the religion of fear and equally little for social or moral religion. A God who rewards and punishes is inconceivable to him for the simple reason that a man's actions are determined by necessity, external and internal, so that in God's eyes he cannot be responsible, any more than an inanimate object is responsible for the motions it undergoes. Science has therefore been charged with undermining morality, but the charge is unjust. A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."
New York Times, November 9, 1930

"We must not conceal from ourselves that no improvement in the present depressing situation is possible without a severe struggle; for the hand full of those who are really determined to do something is minute in comparison with the mass of the lukewarm and the misguided. And those who have an interest in keeping the machinery of war going are a very powerful body; they will stop at nothing to make public opinion subservient to their murderous ends."
Mein Weltbild, Querido Verlag, 1934

"But I also believe that it can come through agreement and through the force of persuasion alone, hence at low cost. But if it is to come in this way, it will not be enough to appeal to reason. One strength of the communist system of the East is that it has some of the character of a religion and inspires the emotions of a religion. Unless the cause of peace based on law gathers behind it the force and zeal of a religion, it hardly can hope to succeed. Those to whom the moral teaching of the human race is entrusted surely have a great duty and a great opportunity. The atomic scientists, I think, have become convinced that they cannot arouse the American people to the truths of the atomic era by logic alone. There must be added that deep power of emotion which is a basic ingredient of religion. It is to be hoped that not only the churches but the schools, the colleges, and the leading organs of opinion will acquit themselves well of their unique responsibility in this regard."

And even with repeated warnings by this Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and many before and after him, nothing at all has changed. Man is still the brute animal that he has always been. It is ironic that Alfred Bernhard Nobel invented dynamite and was ever regretful for his contribution to mans' ability to wage war.

I have been corrected, and rightly so, for my earlier statements referring to "the Average American" and "Southerners" as being moronic imbeciles. "The South" and "America" certainly have no monopoly on "morons". It just so happens that the world is full of them. They have just enough reasoning ability to be dangerous, and to kill each other... even their own!

I certainly do not mean to be condescending. I only wish to point out the TRUTH of the folly of mankind. They just happen to be in my face where I live. So, they get the brunt of my wrath here. People kill because they are taught to kill. Now, who's fault is that?

I speak these difficult truths precisely because I DO care! Because more people need to wake up! Hell, from appearances, the vast majority of mankind needs to wake up... before it is too late. And it may already be too late.

Man shot churchgoers over liberal views?

I just can't leave this one alone!

Police: Man shot churchgoers over liberal views
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Knoxville's police chief says the man accused of a shooting that killed two people at a Tennessee church targeted the congregation because of its liberal social stance.

Chief Sterling Owen IV said Monday that police found a letter in Jim D. Adkisson's car. Owen said Adkisson was apparently frustrated over being out of work and had a "stated hatred of the liberal movement."

Adkisson is charged with first-degree murder. Police say a gunman entered the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church during a children's performance Sunday. No children were hurt.

The church is known for advocating women's and gay rights and founding an American Civil Liberties Union chapter.

It is being reported that the suspect wrote in a note that he signed before the shooting that he was angry that he couldn't find a job as a result of the "liberal movement"!

This simply goes to show how misinformed that the average American really is, especially in the south. It never occurs to him that the jobs are being sent over seas by Republican Conservatives. It also escapes him that Republican Conservatives are responsible for all "Union Busting" that has occurred over the past 20 years or more and that Unions were what kept wages competitive. He doesn't realize that "free trade" agreements made by the conservative, moneyed elite are rendering our Constitution obsolete.

These southern morons believe that protecting our Civil Liberties is an evil that is eroding our freedom when it is exactly the other way around! This is a classic example of the upside down, backward thinking that is programmed into our youth in our society.

Now, I must give the Devil his due. The American "Left" is only just right of center. But these ill informed, brainwashed idiots actually believe that the advocacy of Peace, Freedom, and Civil Liberties is the root of all of their problems.

And this is exactly the condition that the 'masters' are working toward: divide and destroy. If we are too busy fighting and killing each other, then the attention is shifted away from their own dastardly deeds.

Again, I find myself at a loss of words for my disbelief and disgust.

Fear and loathing are the only sentiments that appear to have any place in our society any more. But our collective distrust is misplaced, obviously. At least it is obvious to me.

If you want to be angry at someone, it would be nice if you could direct your anger at the responsible party's: Fascist Conservative Money Whores! You know, that top 2 or 3 percent of the population that actually hold all of the wealth and do whatever is necessary to keep it in their own hands. And they will truly stop at nothing!

I am in NO WAY condoning the actions of this "psychopath", (Dusty). I am simply stating the fact that his twisted thinking was fomented by the bigoted beliefs that are spewed from the mouths of those here in the south that surround me on a daily basis!

And I don't hide behind a cyber wall to speak my mind, either.

Gunman opens fire in Tennessee church

Whoa! Tell me that people aren't getting pissed!

Gunman opens fire in Tennessee church, 1 killed
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - A man wielding a shotgun entered a church and opened fire as congregants watched a youth performance Sunday, killing one person and injuring eight others, Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen said.

Police said the gunman was taken into custody. They didn't immediately release his name. No children were injured. A hospital spokeswoman said five of the wounded were in critical condition.

Owen said the man killed was Greg McKendry, 60, a longtime church member and usher at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.

"It appears Mr. McKendry was the first person he (the gunman) encountered when he walked into the sanctuary," Owen said. "It's going to be a while before all the facts are cleared up."

A church member who arrived moments after the shooting said the gunman fired three times and was tackled. Officials wouldn't say exactly how many people subdued the gunman.

"It was a large group and we are thankful for them for without it, this situation could have been even worse," Mayor Bill Haslam said.

There were about 200 people in the church at the time of the shooting watching a youth performance being put on by 25 children.

Police had cordoned off the church with yellow and red tape, and were taking statements and collecting video cameras from church members who were taping the performance.

The church's minister was on vacation in western North Carolina at the time of the shooting but returned Sunday afternoon.

"We've been touched by a horrible act of violence. We are in a process of healing and we ask everyone for your prayers," the Rev. Chris Buice said in a statement outside the church.

The Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church is a community that meets to worship and work together for social change, according to the church's Web site. Since the 1950's, the congregation has worked for desegregation, racial harmony, fair wages, women's rights and gay rights, according to the Web site. The congregation also has provided sanctuary for political refugees, fed the homeless and founded a chapter of the ACLU.

I, myself, cannot advocate violence against others, even when they are committing violence, if only by consent or exhortation, as it seems our "Christian" Nation has devolved into. But I think that this my be indicative of a growing discontent. And the direction of the discontent is not misplaced: The Church and our communities.

It is important to note the courageousness of the congregation members who subdued the assailant. And they did it without KILLING him. This should be our guide in dealing with violence, to be sure. A different mind set than "Kill 'em all and let God sort it out" is needed in our society, beginning in our homes, schools and churches.

Terroristic Housing Market

Does anyone see anything strange or odd about the sign in this picture?

Housing rescue bill heads to Bush for signature

Congress passed the most significant housing legislation in decades Saturday, offering help to struggling homeowners and seeking to stabilize a troubled housing market that has dragged down the economy.

President Bush will sign it quickly, the White House said, despite reservations over $3.9 billion in the bill that would aid neighborhoods devastated by the housing crisis buy and fix up foreclosed properties.

Let's drill off shore

... instead of all the oil fields that we can and aren't drilling in. And let's just burn, baby burn, and keep on burning until we all burn. I guess this is hell, almost.

Baby penguins found dead by the hundreds
While it is common here to find some penguins—both dead and alive—swept by strong ocean currents from the Strait of Magellan, Pimenta said there have been more this year than at any time in recent memory.

Rescuers and those who tre at penguins are divided over the possible causes. Thiago Muniz, a veterinarian at the Niteroi Zoo, said he believed overfishing has forced the penguins to swim further from shore to find fish to eat “and that leaves them more vulnerable to getting caught up in the strong ocean currents.”

Niteroi, the state’s biggest zoo, already has already received about 100 penguins for treatment this year and many are drenched in petroleum, Muniz said. The Campos oil field that supplies most of Brazil’s oil lies offshore.

Muniz said he hadn’t seen penguins suffering from the effects of other pollutants, but he po inted out that already dead penguins aren’t brought in for treatment.

Pimenta suggested pollution is to blame. “Aside from the oil in the Campos basin, the pollution is lo wering the animals’ immunity, leaving them vulnerable to funguses and bacteria that attack their lungs,” Pimenta said, quoting biologists who work with him.

But biologist Erli Costa of Rio de Janeiro’s Federal University suggested we ather patterns could be involved. “I don’t think the levels of pollution are high enough to affect the birds so quickly. I think instead we’re seeing more young and sick penguins because of global warming, which affects ocean currents and creates more cyclones, making the seas rougher,” Costa said.

Will we ever stop the greed and disregard for life of the oligarchy? Probably not.

Evil Weed!

Pot truly is evil! It turns what would be rational public servants into complete idiotic assholes. Uh, that would be the DA.
Hundreds of low-level pot possession offenders are facing five-to-20 years in prison after being charged with felony offenses by The New Orleans new district attorney, according to an investigative report published this week by the newspaper New Orleans City Business.

The report finds that a disproportionate number of felony cases filed by District Attorney Keva Landrum-Johnson are related to the prosecution of small-time marijuana offenders who are facing their second or third possession offense. Critics of the policy charge, including Steve Singer, the Chief of Trials for the New Orleans Public Defenders Office, charge that the filings have “clogged the courts with non-violent, petty offenses, drained the resources of the criminal justice system and damaged low-income African-American communities.”

Under Louisiana law, first time pot possession is a misdemeanor offense. However, DA's may charge repeat offenders with either a misdemeanor or a felony. Under state law, a second marijuana possession offense is punishable by up to five years in prison. A third offense is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The city's previous DAs routinely charged repeat pot possession offenders with misdemeanors rather than felonies, the paper reported.

It estimated that the city courts could handle nearly 4,000 marijuana possession cases this year.“District Attorney Landrum-Johnson may think she's being 'tough on crime,' but really she's being dumb on crime,” NORML Legal Counsel Keith Stroup said. “Her constituents are demanding that she crack down on violent crime. Instead, the DA is clogging the courts and wasting police and prosecutorial resources by throwing the book at pot smokers.”

Micro Chips for ALL!

Big Brother wants to keep tabs on all of our livestock, pets, and eventually us (as if they don't already know more about you and me than we ourselves do!).

Small farmers have been fighting this alone

For the love of God, don't people have any common sense left at all?

Do not let anyone put a computer chip in your body.

And, while you're all it, lend support to the small farmers who are working to stop this latest psychotic move by our Big Business Government.

Forcing people to chip their backyard livestock and pets is insane.

NAIS, the National Animal ID System, is being fought by this group.

It's in your best interest to support them every way you can:

http://NoNAIS.org

I keep a few dozen chickens and ducks which provide me with fresh eggs and, on occasion, some meat. I also have a few goats and a couple of asses (a jack and a jenny). The reason for the asses is that they have a natural tendency to "protect the herd" from predators such as coyotes. And, of course, I keep a herding dog (a shelty) and some cats to keep the rodents out of the feed.

And Big brother wants to count them and keep track of them.

I cannot express how much this offends me. If they get this practice passed through, anyone with an animal which is not chipped will not be eligible to buy, sell, or trade their animals and animal products on the market. This means that all un-chipped animals will eventually die out leaving only the ones that ARE chipped to buy, sell and trade.

Right now, the only organization in Missouri that is actively campaigning against these draconian laws is the Missouri Libertarian Party. Most everyone in Southeast Missouri are Fascist Christian Extremist Republicans who really cannot even have a rational independent thought. They bend over and say "please" each and every time that Big Brother offers to screw them.

I am not simply hurling insolence around for effect. They really don't seem to realize what they are allowing to happen to them... genuinely! If someone portending to uphold "Christian Values" says virtually anything at all (like "let's go kill them rag head bastards"), then it must be God's will!

Yet, many of them complain about cell phones and the potential health problems associated with them. And they cannot even connect the dots after they hear the heart wrenching stories of lost family pets being reunited with their owners nor the 'politics of fear' warnings of unmonitored livestock introducing "Mad Cow" and the likes into the human food chain.

But I can assure you that introducing a data collection device which causes cancer and extreme pain and discomfort is NOT the answer to those concerns. Data collection has only two purposes: targeted marketing and control.

To lay aside your privacy and liberties in the name of 'security and safety' is the epitome of insanity.

Take action NOW to stop this new industry before it is too late!

Voices for Peace: Won't you be one too?

A VERY well made short video with a VERY powerful and truthful message.

Speak out against war! Speak out for Peace, Love and Understanding!

Impeachment Will Be Heard on Friday

SAY IT AIN'T SO! Could WE finally BE HEARD?

V
Dennis Kucinich: Thanks to You, Impeachment Will Be Heard on Friday | AfterDowningStreet.org
I want to thank you for the support which you have given to my efforts to hold this administration accountable for taking us into a war based on lies and for the destruction of the rule of law and the destruction of cherished constitutional principles.

Because of your support, this Friday in Washington, DC, I will make a presentation before the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives at which time I will make the case that this president has violated his oath of office, violated United States law and international law, has separated our nation from our constitution, and has taken us on a course that has been so profoundly anti-democratic that it has threatened the core of our nation.

Because of your support, I have been able to advance this series of matters right to the table of the Judiciary Committee.

Because of your support, I have been able to create an opening so we’re finally getting a chance in Washington to discuss the abuses of power, to discuss a war based on lies, to discuss the whole architecture of constitutional principles that have been taken down.

Every serious matter that faces the people of this country today can be linked to an administration which is not accountable.

Woo Hoo! They'll be dancing in the street!
Dare we hope for some accountability? Dare we dream?
And the "owners" will say, "How dare you?!"
And life will continue as usual.
And the murderers will go on killing and stealing from the people.
And the people will continue to cowl in fear.
And the rich will get richer as the poor will get poorer.

Tell me again that I have no faith!

Cuban Missle Crisis: Part Deux

Russian Bombers Could Be Deployed to Cuba - washingtonpost.com
MOSCOW, July 21 -- Russian bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons could be deployed to Cuba in response to U.S. plans to install a missile defense system in Eastern Europe, a Russian newspaper reported Monday, citing an unnamed senior Russian air force official.
This Story

The report in Izvestia, which could not be confirmed, prompted memories of the 1962 Cuban missile crisis, when the United States and the Soviet Union came to the brink of nuclear war after Nikita Khrushchev put nuclear missiles on the Caribbean island. The weapons were eventually withdrawn in an apparent Soviet climb-down, but President John F. Kennedy also secretly agreed to remove U.S. missiles from Turkey.

A spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry declined to comment on the report Monday, but did not deny it. Izvestia is often a forum for strategic leaks by Kremlin and other officials.

"While they are deploying the missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic, our strategic bombers will already be landing in Cuba," Izvestia quoted the source as saying.

And instead of having the likes of JFK to tiptoe through the mine field and keep our collective ass in one piece, we could actually have Bush or McSame to virtually insure our incineration.

Nice!

Wiretap captures Fantino telling protest activist 'Your whole world is going to come crashing down'

The Ontario Provincial Police warned a native activist they were on the verge of taking action if he did not immediately lift blockades of Highway 401 and a main railway line near Kingston last year.

OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino, in three late-night and early-morning telephone conversations with Mohawk activist Shawn Brant in June 2007, warned "your whole world is going to come crashing down" if the blockades were not immediately removed.

"Shawn, we're not negotiating any more. We've done it all night. Now I am telling you for the sake of all that is decent and holy and the things you're trying to achieve ...pull the plug or you will suffer grave consequences. "

The police-generated transcripts, which provide a rare glimpse into the top-level, all-night negotiations that went on at the time Highway 401 and a vital rail corridor near Kingston were closed by native blockades, were released late yesterday after a day of see-saw court battles in which a publication ban was reversed three times.

Unknown to Brant at the time of Fantino's warning, police had a tactical unit and other equipment standing by, ready to intervene.

Under questioning by Brant's lawyer Peter Rosenthal during a preliminary hearing last August, Fantino conceded the OPP had both its Tactics and Rescue Unit and public order officers on site. He acknowledged the units included sniper teams.

"And they're referred to as sniper teams because they are trained to do what we understand the word sniper to mean, to be able to, at a distance, shoot people, right?" Rosenthal asked.

"If warranted," Fantino replied. "If necessary."

During the same hearing, Fantino said he knew his officers were recording his conversations with Brant.

"Now that this is out in the open I hope there will be some inquiries to find out why," said Rosenthal. "The Crown attempted to keep this information from the public by alleging that it was protecting Mr. Brant's right to a fair trial.

"In my view, after a week of hearings in Napanee it became absolutely clear that there was no content whatsoever to any claim by the Crown that it was protecting Mr. Brant. In my view, the publication ban protected Mr. Fantino."

Brant was a central figure in protests during last summer's national aboriginal day of action, which resulted in the closing of highways and rail lines near Kingston. The group controlled a section of Highway 401 between Belleville and Napanee for about 10 hours, halting all transportation.

At one point during the conversations Fantino told Brant, "I don't wanna get on your bad side, but you're gonna force me to do everything I can within your community and everywhere else to destroy your reputation."

Fantino told Brant that if he co-operated "... I am liable to say your issues are critical and they're important," but then went on to warn the native activist, "If you don't then I'm gonna go the other way and I'm gonna say that you are just destroying and you're abusing, you're using the people and you are actually being a mercenary about it, using the suicide of children and all those legitimate issues.

"And you don't want that because I think I can play the media routine like you do.

"When I said I'll let ya take the credit you can tell the media that you decided to pull the plug. Otherwise, it won't look that pretty."

As the battle over the publication ban continued yesterday, Sgt. Kristine Rae, media relations OPP, declined to comment, saying, "It would be inappropriate for the OPP to comment on an ongoing process before the court."

Fantino made the calls just weeks after the release of the Ipperwash inquiry report, which looked into the shooting of native Dudley George in 1997 during a standoff. The report criticized former premier Mike Harris, saying he should have "urged patience rather than speed" in resolving the dispute.

Reached yesterday at the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory outside Belleville, Brant said, "When they banned Fantino's testimony they banned a significant piece of this puzzle, not only for my case but the state of policing as it relates to the first nations people of Ontario."

In Quebec City, Premier Dalton McGuinty stood by Fantino.

"I've always had a lot of confidence in Commissioner Fantino," he said. "That confidence remains. He has performed heroically, arguably under some of the most difficult circumstances when it comes to our province's relationship with our aboriginal communities. "

+U.S. military fatalities through May 1, 2003: 140
+U.S. military fatalities through June 28, 2005: 1743
+U.S. military fatalities through January 10, 2007: 3017
+U.S. military fatalities through March 19, 2007: 3217
+U.S. military fatalities as of June 9, 2008: 4094 (this figure exceeds the number of people killed in all of the incidents that occurred on September 11, 2001)

+Iraqi deaths due to the US invasion, as of September 2004 (estimated by The Lancet): 100,000+
+Iraqi deaths due to the US invasion, as of July 2006 (estimated by The Lancet): 654,965
+Iraqi deaths due to the US invasion, as of June 9, 2008 (estimated by Just Foreign Policy): 1,221,154*

*These figures are based on the number of deaths estimated in The Lancet (the British medical journal) study through July 2006, and then updated based "on how quickly deaths are mounting in Iraq". To do that, Just Foreign Policy multiplies The Lancet figure as of July 2006 by the ratio of current deaths reported by Iraq Body Count (IBC), divided by IBC deaths as of July 1, 2006. The IBC numbers, considerably lower than those cited by The Lancet, Opinion Research Business (a British polling firm which estimated 1.2 million Iraqi deaths as of September 2007), and even the Iraq Ministry of Health, are based on the number of fatalities cited in various news reports and have been criticized, with much justification, for not giving an accurate assessment of the real Iraqi death count. The much more rigorous and statistically-reliable study, conducted by teams from Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University and Al-Mustansiriya University, and published in The Lancet in September 2004, put the figure at around 100,000 civilians dead. However, that data had been based on "conservative assumptions", according to research team leader Les Roberts, and the actual count at that time was credibly assumed to be significantly higher. For example, The Lancet study's data greatly underestimated fatalities in Fallujah due to the surveying problems encountered there at that time. The second Lancet study, released on October 10, 2006, indicated that 654,965 "excess" deaths of Iraqis have occurred since the outbreak of the aggression and genocide committed by the United States against the people of Iraq. The current figures provided by Just Foreign Policy seem to be logically consistent with the increasing rates of death from 2003 to 2004, and 2004 to 2006.

You can't please everyone all of the time...

... but if you please the top 3% in Amerika, you should do just fine! They might just let you live!

Emma Brockes talks to Barbara Ehrenreich about her new book, Barack Obama and the great wealth divide | News | guardian.co.uk Books
Twenty years ago, Barbara Ehrenreich wrote an article for the New York Times in which she pointed out the growing inequality of American society and was promptly denounced, by a rival paper, as a Marxist. "The Washington Times is an extreme-rightwing publication," she says, so there was no surprise there. But the paper's reaction underlined a general principle: that while one can say "fairly wild" things about race and gender in the US, there persists a certain coyness about class. "There's this powerful myth that America doesn't have classes; that they're an ancient English or European thing that we abolished. And that if you're not rich, it's your own damn fault."

The 'bottom to top' individual is a rare creature, indeed. Most spend each day just trying to keep from losing what they've got! And every wealthy person that I know had it handed to them. Granted they have to work at keeping it, but they can afford good help with that, too.

A good friend pointed me to an interview with George Carlin this morning in which he is basically accused of being a Marxist for calling a spade a spade. I'm just not sure that I can figure out what is so bad about being Marxist! Now, I would be offended if someone called me a Capitalist!

But then, that's just me...

Here is the Carlin short:

Enjoy the book review and the interview. I did!

A Hero's Welcome?

Like so many other casualties of war that few of us will ever hear of, they are only useful to the military as PR or bullet stoppers!

Soldier in famous photo never defeated 'demons'
In a letter to post commander Maj. Gen. Robert Lennox, Knapp expressed anger that Army officials who were "proud to display him as a hero ... now had turned their back on him..."

"Joseph Dwyer who had left to Iraq one of the nicest, kindest, caring, self-sacrificing and patriotic people I have ever known," she wrote, "was forced to witness and commit acts completely contrary to his nature and returned a tormented, confused disillusioned shadow of his former self that was not being given the help he needed."

Zeiss said the best treatment for PTSD is exposure-based psychotherapy, in which the patient is made "to engage in thoughts, feelings and conversations about the trauma." While caregivers must be 100 percent committed to creating an environment in which the veteran feels comfortable confronting those demons, she said the patient must be equally committed to following through.

"And so it's a dance between the clinicians and the patient."

Paul Rieckhoff, executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, feels the VA is a lousy dance partner.

I can only say two more things about this article between my tears:

1) I couldn't agree more with the conclusion in the last sentence posted above,

and,

2) WHAT... THE... FUCK?!

Read the whole article here, here, or here. (This last link is where the above quotes come from).

"It's all in your head"

Phil Gramm was thrown under the bus for saying the same thing that McSame and Boosh have said time and again, albeit he said it less artfully.

I know that I will feel better when these pricks are held accountable for their crimes against humanity and the people of this once great land. Take a look at this article and see for yourself how they have served their country. And don't look for anything to change much until moneyed interests in our government are relegated to the back of the pack.

Like THAT will happen!

NeoCons: Above the Law

Why Karl Rove Should Go to Jail | Rights and Liberties | AlterNet
Again last week, we saw the arrogance of former White House advisor Karl Rove when an empty chair sat for him in front of the House Judiciary subcommittee where he was required by subpoena to testify. Not only did he refuse to appear before the committee -- let alone testify -- but he defiantly left the country thereby blatantly ignoring his obligations under the congressional subpoena served on him. When he did return to the country, Rove found the time to gab with TV reporters on a summer press tour in Beverly Hills, but failed to stop by the Judiciary Committee in Washington.

After my ruling that Mr. Rove's claims of immunity are not legally valid, Congressman Conyers and I gave him one last chance to comply with the law. He ignored us. As he let yet another deadline slip by this week, Mr. Rove's disregard for Congress has become intolerable. Mr. Rove needs to understand that he is not above the law and should obey a subpoena just like any other American is required to do.

Mr. Rove should not be able to hide behind the president to avoid the American public. Americans are fed up with this administration flaunting the law. They expect Congress to hold people accountable and that is exactly what we intend to do. Letting Mr. Rove get away with this would set a dangerous precedent. I have recommended that we hold Mr. Rove in contempt of Congress. If we need to revive the inherent contempt procedure which gives Congress the authority to arrest those who defy Congressional subpoenas, then so be it.

The courts have made clear that no one, not even the president, is immune from compulsory process. Any person who scoffs at the law and who has committed an offense that is punishable by jail time should be put in jail. This includes Karl Rove.

We shall likely see an exodus of present and former Bush Administration appointees in the future. My only question is: where the hell do they think that they can go? If their own country wants to prosecute them, they can be sure that most of the rest of the world wants the same for them... if not worse.

Dare we dream that the fascist warmongers who have wrought havoc on our planet for all of our collective lives are about to "face the muzak", as it were?

Nah. I feel better if I don't count on it!

"Break the law? Hell, I am the law!" Wish I had a nickel for every time I have heard that.

Straight Talk Express hits another bump...

That wasn't a bump in the road! That was Phil Gramm being thrown under it... again.

This news is so new that I can't even find it on the web yet. But it is announced that Phil Gramm has resigned Senator McSame's campaign with an apology to the Senator.

I just wonder if he is apologizing for being a complete and utter idiotic prick or some superficial idea that doesn't matter for squat.

McSame has surrounded his self with moronic fascists and he can't throw them under the bus fast enough. If he were to be elected President, his staff would be changing so fast that we couldn't keep track of who was in what office or position from day to day. Can you imagine?

VA Ban on Voter Registration Drives for Injured Vets Becomes National Fight

VA Ban on Voter Registration Drives for Injured Vets Becomes National Fight | Democracy and Elections | AlterNet
In a letter this week to Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, who earlier this month was barred from registering voters at a VA facility and has since been organizing top state election officials, Secretary of Veterans Affairs James B. Peake said his agency would not allow registration drives unless "these efforts be coordinated through the VA Voluntary Service (VAVS) office at each VA medical center."

"This policy is the result of careful deliberation and consideration for the needs and rights of our patients, concerns about disrupting facility operations, and the need to ensure VA is not involved in partisan political activities," Peake wrote in his July 15, 2008, letter.

Voter registration advocates said the VA policy will not help injured veterans to vote.

"It's official. State officials cannot help veterans vote," said Scott Rafferty, a Washington, D.C., attorney who has been fighting the VA in court to allow voter registration drives at its Menlo Park campus in northern California. "No one, except fingerprinted volunteers, can tell them anything about elections -- and only if they ask."

"No VA staff can help. That's been made clear, too," he said. "It's unbelievable."

Paul Sullivan, executive director of Veterans for Common Sense, criticized the latest VA policy.

"VA just threw up their hands and surrendered the voting rights for possibly hundreds of thousands of our veterans," he said. "VA’s weak and indefensible position is all the more striking, shocking, and shameful due the fact some of our veterans now in VA facilities are recovering from battle wounds from Iraq and Afghanistan."

We certainly don't want people who have seen the horrors of war first hand and are recovering (if that is even possible) from injuries incurred in war to be allowed to cast their vote in an election that might mean the end of the war(s).

The Fascist States of America are top down bastards. Us little piss ants at the bottom of the food chain shouldn't have any say in our life (or death) anyway. We don't have the wisdom and foresight to make intelligent decisions on such matters.

I'm getting whiplash from shaking my head over this crap!

Airport Gestapo? No. Just Gestapo!

When I still worked for the government (in the bogus sham of a program to NOT provide health care services) I flew several times from St. Louis to Washington D.C., after the S11 event. Each and every trip I made in either direction, I was singled out of the crowd of waiting passengers and searched thoroughly (save no cavity searches, thank the gods). And I was on official government business with the same paying for my tickets and lodgings.

Since I quit that fruitless bureaucratic waste of time, I can't even buy a ticket. For one, I have AIDS and we are routinely denied travel in, out and through the U.S. Secondly, I am a convicted felon who has paid his debt to society (yet, the elephant and the ass never forgets). And thirdly, as a "card carrying member" of these two groups, I have intimate knowledge and experience of the fascist practices of our society and they know that I know it.

Paul Craig Roberts: Airport Gestapo
Do you really believe there are one million terrorists and nothing has blown up in the US since September 11, 2001 (assuming you believe the government’s account of that episode)?

How can there possibly be 1,000,000 terrorists and America still be in one piece? If there were 1,000,000 terrorists, America would be in ruins. According to the Bush Regime’s line, it only took a handful of terrorists to destroy America’s tallest skyscrapers and a section of the Pentagon and to send the President of the United States scurrying to a hiding place.

One million terrorists could bring America to its knees, and they wouldn’t need to fly on airplanes to accomplish this.

What we are witnessing with the one million person “watch list” is bureaucracy run amok. One Million Terrorists makes the danger seem overwhelming. Such overwhelming danger rationalizes the aggressive behavior of the bullies and thugs attracted by the power of confiscating your toothpaste and bottled water and riffling your belongings in your luggage.

Show your ID.
Take off your shoes.

Take off your belt.
Take off your jacket.

Empty your pockets.

Don’t complain about being searched without a warrant or you will miss your flight. You might be arrested, handcuffed, kicked and otherwise abused--the fate of many American citizens.

The morons who comprise the US government call the “watch list” one of the government’s “most effective tools in the fight against terrorism.”

What an effective tool it is! It cannot tell the difference between Jim Robinson and a Muslim terrorist. (former Assistant US Attorney General Jim Robinson, whose top security clearances are current. Every time Mr.Robinson flies away on business, he is delayed by a totally incompetent “terrorist” protection racket that cannot tell a person named Jim Robinson, who served in the highest echelons of the US government)

The “watch list” has not apprehended a single terrorist, but thousands of American citizens have been inconvenienced and arrested.

The ACLU says that “putting a million names on a watch list is a guarantee that the list will do more harm than good by interfering with the travel of innocent people and wasting huge amounts of our limited security resources on bureaucratic wheel-spinning.”

It is worse than that. What the “watch list” or “no-fly list” is doing is training Americans to submit to warrantless searches, to abandon their constitutional rights, and to submit to humiliation by thugs and bullies. A Gestapo is being trained to have no qualms about searching and intimidating fellow citizens, using any excuse to delay or arrest them. Americans are being taught to use arbitrary power and to submit to arbitrary power. In the false name of “safety from terrorists,” Americans are being made the least safe people on earth.

And right now too, your local neighborhood pigs have been given the green light to declare the likes of "gang injunctions" , and other wholly illegal and unconstitutional (or they should be) infringements on the rights of anyone who dares to not bow down to our corporate masters, 24/7. And they intend to "know" whether or not you "do" bow down -- 24/7. And they won't stop, either... unless we stop them.

What is to be done? There is no alternative but to resist by any means necessary. Welcome to your fascist future. -grok-

Monkey see, monkey do.

W.Va. man pleads guilty in torture of woman
LOGAN, W.Va. (AP) - Another defendant has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the suspected torture of a young woman held captive in West Virginia last summer.

Bobby Brewster, 25, pleaded guilty in Logan County Circuit Court on Tuesday to second-degree sexual assault, malicious assault and conspiracy to commit kidnapping or holding hostage. He was sentenced to at least 13 and as many as 40 years in prison, said Logan County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Ilderton.

In exchange for the plea, charges of kidnapping and assault during the commission of a felony were dismissed, Ilderton said.

Brewster was arrested in September along with five others. A seventh person was charged later.

Authorities say Charleston resident Megan Williams was held for days in a trailer where she was forced to eat animal feces, sexually assaulted and stabbed. She was rescued Sept. 8 after an anonymous caller alerted authorities.

All the other defendants have pleaded guilty to various charges except Danny Combs, whose trial is scheduled to begin in early September. Brewster agreed to testify against Combs as part of this week's plea agreement, which was offered only after consulting with Williams and her family, Ilderton said.

Because Williams is black and her assailants white, prosecutors were pressured to charge the defendants with hate crimes, but only one faced such a charge.

The Associated Press generally does not identify suspected victims of sexual assault, but Williams and her mother, Carmen, agreed to release her name. Carmen Williams has said she wanted people to know what her daughter, then 20, endured.

Uh, lemme see... West Virginia is one of those 'Red States', isn't it?

And that ain't torture?

Ashcroft: 'Not hard' to reject interrogation memos
Ashcroft was attorney general when he approved two Justice Department legal opinions in 2002 and 2003 that, essentially, approved the use of waterboarding and other harsh methods so long as they did not "cause pain similar in intensity to that caused by death or organ failure."

And the Djinn of 'Wishmaster' said, "I don't need you dead. I only need you to wish you were dead".

And that ain't torture?

News Flash! Bush 'a total failure'

House Speaker Pelosi calls Bush 'a total failure'
President Bush has been a "total failure" in everything from the economy to the war to energy policy, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday. In an interview on CNN, the California Democrat was asked to respond to video of the president criticizing the Democratic-led Congress for heading into the final 26 days of the legislative session without having passed a single government spending bill.

Pelosi shot back in unusually personal terms.

"You know, God bless him, bless his heart, president of the United States, a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject," Pelosi replied. She then tsk-tsked Bush for "challenging Congress when we are trying to sweep up after his mess over and over and over again."

Bless his heart?... well, bite my ass!

Again, the media, congress, and all the little peons of the country starting to say out loud what some of us have know and screamed all along! I can proudly say definitively that I never ever voted for him for anything. Of course, I never saw a drawing for the biggest asshole of all time, either. For that, he might have been in contention.

Bless his heart? Hell, BUST HIS ASS! I don't want to have him hung or tortured. I want him to live out a long, long life... in an 8x10 cell.

'Clockwork Orange' comes to mind, for some strange reason. Force the prick to watch hours, days, and weeks of the results of his murderous rampage from Texas to Tikrit to Timbuktu! Torture him with visuals of his own torture and the results thereof.

But give him just enough food and medical treatment to keep him alive.

I'm getting light headed just thinking about it!

Marines run amok - Killing each other!

Husband charged with murdering soldier wife - CNN.com
Recently Wimunc's charred body was found in a wooded area, said Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine. Detectives then arrested Wimunc's husband, Marine Cpl. John Wimunc, and fellow Marine Lance Cpl. Kyle Alden.

The two were initially charged with the arson of Wimunc's apartment but after police interviews John Wimunc was charged with first degree murder. Alden was charged with felony accessory after the fact to first degree murder. They were taken to Cumberland County's jail and held without bond.

Military officials said both Marines were stationed at Camp Lejeune, which is about two hours away from Wimunc's Fayetteville home.

Joe Lenczyk -- resident agent-in-charge for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives -- said Wimunc and her husband were estranged and lived apart.

Wimunc is the second female soldier from Fort Bragg to die under suspicious circumstances in recent weeks.

Spc. Megan Lynn Touma, 23, was seven months pregnant at the time of her death in June, authorities said. Investigators say they are treating that death as a homicide.

Camp Lejeune also has had a suspicious death of a female soldier this year. Twenty-year-old pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach's charred body was found January in the back yard of another Marine stationed at the base.

That suspect, U.S. Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, is being pursued by prosecutors.

I guess that when you program them to kill and then take them out of the battlefield they just turn on each other and kill the most defenseless of their own. It shouldn't be long until they are set loose on the citizens of our country. Maybe it's in the North Carolina water?

Apple turns MS

Software problems bug Apple's launch of new iPhone
NEW YORK (AP) - The launch of Apple Inc.'s much-anticipated new iPhone turned into an information-technology meltdown on Friday, as customers were unable to get their phones working.

"It's such grief and aggravation," said Frederick Smalls, an insurance broker in Whitman, Mass., after spending two hours on the phone with Apple and AT&T Inc., trying to get his new iPhone to work.

In stores, people waited at counters to get the phones activated, as lines built behind them. Many of the customers had already camped out for several hours in line to become among the first with the new phone, which updates the one launched a year ago by speeding up Internet access and adding a navigation chip.

A spokesman for AT&T, the exclusive carrier for the iPhone in the U.S., said there was a global problem with Apple's iTunes servers that prevented the phones from being fully activated in-store, as had been planned.

Ha ha ha ha, ho ho ho ho...

And everyone has to upgrade to Vista, and it don't work. Apple has prided itself for its reliability over MS. (I know that you can't see me, but I am shaking my head and rolling my eyes in disgust).

I wonder what would happen if all home users and small businesses just quit using Windows or Mac either one... as if. I guess it's that "consumerism" thingy again.

What amazes me is that the FREE operating system is the safest and most reliable of them all and does everything that they do and more... with FREE UPGRADES, too! Yet everyone rushes out and buys this crap and keeps giving their money to the money whores!

And speaking of AT&T, they are sending me email to a non-AT&T email account with all passwords and service changes to another mans' phone in another state! I guess that their new found criminal immunity has assured them that not only can they share other peoples' personal information with the President and his minions, Hell, they can share it with ANYONE!

How the fuck do these people stay in business?????

Simply amazing!

John McCain on Social Security: "It's An Absolute Disgrace"

It's easy to think that Social Security is a disgrace when your family has $100 million and 8 homes, like John McCain's does. But for the rest of us - for our parents, and for our grandparents - Social Security is how millions of people pay their bills and keep food on the table.

Social Security is the principal source of income for two-thirds of older Americans, and virtually the only source of income for one-third. Social Security also serves as an important safety net, protecting America's workers and their families against the risks of death and disability.

This information provided by Americans United for Change.

And we all see what a wonderful job privatization has done with "the war". No bid contracts for Haliburton, Blackwater, and their ilk. Yeah! Sure! Let's privatize our retirement and disability, too. That should rush the demise of the world by quite a bit!

FOX'S RACIST & HATE-FILLED SMEARS

"Fascists on X-tacy" (they must be on something!) attack anyone who is not pro-war, pro-capitalist, pro-Christiano-Fascist. How about we declare a war on fascism and shut Faux News down! I can't see any reason to watch them other than to get a glimpse inside of some very sick minds. It should be class room material for criminal psychologists only.

Kill 'em all!

Damned, if the truth doesn't hurt like hell!

"KILL EVERYBODY" - US ARMY SPECIALIST DARRELL ANDERSON EXPOSES US POLICY "I joined in '03," 'cause I was broke, I needed money, but I was a young American kid, I wanted to fight in a war. I joined up. [A] month out of training I arrived in Baghdad, Iraq, January '04. Saddam's been captured. And I get there and the guys I'm serving with have been there for six months already; they were there in '03. And I go, "Well, you know what, I think it's come out that, you know, these people had nothing to do with 9/11, there was no Iraqi on those planes. We can see around here there's no Al Qaida, there's no terrorist syndicates in Baghdad, or Iraq. Saddam had stamped 'em out." And I asked my buddies, "Well, you know, we're here to find 'weapons of mass destruction'." And they laughed at me. And I said, "Well, you know, we're here to 'help the people.'" And they laughed at me. And I said, "What's our mission? What's our goal?"...They're like, "All we're trying to do is make it home alive..." Anderson describes the escalation of violence against unarmed civilians: "In April, they told us, "In a crowded area, if one person shoots at you, kill everybody." Anderson explains the rationale from the officers: "They [members of the crowd of people] are letting them [the person or persons firing at the U.S. military] attack you. They're no longer innocent if they're there at the time of the crime..." (9/11 conference, Chandler AZ Feb 23-25, 2007) 911TV.org / snowshoefilms post-production/ 9:46

Some relevant background: In trying to suppress the Yugoslavian resistance, Nazi Gen. Keitel, supreme commander of the armed forces, issued this order in Sept. 1941:
"In order to nip disorders in the bud the sternest measures must be applied at the first sign of insurrection. It should also be taken into consideration that in the countries in question a human life is often valueless. In a reprisal for the life of a German soldier, the general rule should be capital punishment for 50-100 Communists. The manner of execution must have a frightening effect."

Perhaps the American generals, the neo-cons, and the new world order planners who direct them are copying the Nazi playbook. More likely, though, they are progressing along parallel lines because they've committed the same egregious war crimes; they can only compound their crimes until they "kill everybody" who resists them. The Yugoslavian partisans fighting German fascism were called "communists." Today, U.S. fascism calls that same resistance in Iraq and Afghanistan "terrorist." Gen. Keitel was hanged for this and other war crimes by the Nuremberg Tribunal on October 16, 1946. http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/...

After 7 months in Iraq, Darrell Anderson, 22, decided that he wasn't to risk going back to Iraq to kill or be killed. He fled to Canada, a deserter. While there, though, he felt he wasn't doing enough to expose and stop the war and returned to U.S. and, possibly, a long prison sentence. Perhaps to undermine the legal case of other deserters in Canada, the U.S. military imprisoned Anderson only a few days, releasing him with a 'less than honorable' discharge. Given Anderson's heroic determination to organize and help GI and other war resisters, the U.S. military may come to believe they've made a mistake. 911TV.org / www.SNOWSHOEFILMS.COM

Yor Yevrah updates: PSDplat asks, "wtf does he [Darrel Anderson] mean, 'expose 911'?" Good question. Anderson, gung-ho when he got to Iraq, quickly learned that Saddam had nothing to do with Sept. 11. It takes a while longer to come to grips with the deeper lie that 9/11 was an inside job. Defenders of the official conspiracy theory (19 Arab hijackers) enable the inside-job perpetrators to get away with their crimes and cover-up and to continue the mother of all hate crimes, the racist, genocidal, global and ersatz "war on terror".

One indication that a person's belief system (cognition) is unsound and unstable (and manipulated) is his use of ad hominem attacks (name calling) in a desperate attempt to repress an impinged perspective. CereaLVII, for example, indicates he himself is in a high state of cognitive dissonance (denial). If his belief system was secure he wouldn't be provoked into calling Darrell Anderson a "pussy," and so forth.
